Today we sat down with Abby and asked her about what she does outside of tattooing and what got her interested in being a tattoo artist.
What made you want to be a tattoo artist?
I’ve been really creative my whole life, with my family always supporting my creativity. It used to be a little hobby, but after getting more involved with my artistic side, I used it as a coping mechanism for depression after moving in my sophomore year. Somebody planted the seed in my mind that I could tattoo my designs and for the next 6 years, I worked really hard to pursue that dream! I love the connection between artist and client and I think that’s one of the best parts of the job.
Do you have a favorite style you want to pursue?
I really love blackwork. More specifically, I love geometric blackwork. Someday, I hope to be doing full body pieces on people that really incorporates the design into the body form. But, I find a lot of joy in doing any and all blackwork designs.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I mostly like to hang out with my dog! She’s a cutie. I also really enjoy going to shows and concerts because I love dancing. My favorite hobbies are hiking, dancing, and drawing.
How many pets do you have and names?
I have two pets! My dog is a shepherd border collie mix, and her name is Wabi Sabi and then my cat (who matches my dog) is named Tiddy, Tiddy the kitty
Tell me a little about your immediate family…
I have a mother, a father and an older brother. My Mom and Dad currently work in retail, but growing up my Dad was a commercial editor for Car companies like Ford and GMC. My brother is a PA for a Neurosurgeon and I honestly don’t know how we are related.
Are you from this area?
I was born in Loveland, then spent most of my life in Michigan, and I have been back since 2012. Living in Loveland, Mason and now Madisonville.
What’s your favorite local restaurant?
I love Two Cities Pizza, they are the most superior pizza in town. Fight me about it.
